Sunday at Barry’s equals Full Body workout. Whether you start on the treadmill or on the floor, your body will be b-b-burnin’ within moments of the first song. Alycia kicked our butts and kept the energy flowing throughout the entire class: there was never a dull moment! We were sweating the whole time. Barry’s Chelsea studio is packed with fit athletes, so get ready to work!

RUNDOWN

WORKOUT

Alycia does not mess around! This was an all-out effort, fatiguing every muscle group in our body. There were two rounds – twice on the treadmill, twice on the floor. Her treadmill workout was hard but could’ve been more balanced – it was heavy on the sprints, light on the hills. If you are looking to reach 9.0-12.0 mph on the treadmill, this class is for you; but if you’re new to Barry’s and not a frequent runner, we’d caution against taking Alycia’s class as your first try. Her floor circuit was nothing short of easy, from jumping jacks, burpees, and mountain climbers to one-legged squats, biceps, triceps, and one-armed pushups – she covered it all (hence the Full Body). We finished wanting more!

INSTRUCTOR

Alycia could have been more assertive given the large size of the class. Despite her simple yet effective floor exercises, we would’ve liked to see her demonstrate more frequently. She left us guessing at times. We’d recommend taking a class that is not sold out if you are a newcomer to Barry’s, but with that said, if you’re a Barry’s enthusiast and have not tried Alycia’s class, you are missing out! Her playlist was on point, timed perfectly to the sprints and kept us motivated and crushing it the whole class.

SPACE

Entering Barry’s Chelsea studio is like walking into a sports team’s locker room, packed with HIGH energy and badass athletes! The workout room is similar in layout to other locations, a narrow space with treadmills lining the wall and step benches facing the opposite wall. While the room is big enough to feel spacious, with a packed class you could find yourself fighting for space.

The locker rooms are spacious, and you can lock up your belongings in the metal lockers – enter a password and you are all set (note: they resemble high school gym lockers, but are much larger). The men’s & women’s locker rooms each have four showers and four bathrooms. The showers are stocked with MALIN + GOETZ products and there are complimentary towels. Check out the apparel along the wall, grab a smoothie, and you will be all set to crush your day.
