Looking for a mid-week pick me up? If so, Becca’s Wednesday morning class at SoulCycle Bryant Park is a must – you will be moving to Swedish House Mafia, Pitbull, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake (aka JT), and Eminem. It’s not just the music, though – her choreography gets your heart rate up and keeps it there. We also loved Becca’s motivational style. Instead of those too often cliché remarks, she engaged the riders at the perfect time. We wish we could take her class every Wednesday morning.
Class kicked off with an upbeat party song that was much needed to get us moving on hump day. The second song had us out of the saddle and we found ourselves sprinting as fast as we could. Becca incorporated all of the well-known SoulCycle moves–around the world, tap backs, obliques, pushups, and combos–but she did so without ever slowing our legs down. Her class was heavy on the choreography and fast – and we mean FAST! If you’re looking for some hills and a bit more balance, you may want to reconsider, but we had a fun time moving and sprinting and left feeling motivated and ready to crush the day!
Becca is a high-energy instructor. From the moment class begins, her pulsating personality lights up the room and you are immediately hooked. She yelled out riders’ names to give that extra boost of motivation, something we all needed. Caution: her music was loud. If you have sensitive ears we recommend grabbing those ear plugs before you head in.
The studio sits beside the beautiful Bryant Park and in centrally-located to many of the NYC subways. Unlike the West Village and Tribeca Soul locations, you could easily walk right by the studio hidden between all those mid-town high rises – so keep your eyes peeled! When you enter, the front desk is on your left and apparel’s on the right. As you head down the hallway, you’ll find the studio on your right, lockers down the left hand side of the wall, and bathrooms/showers straight back. While this location is spacious, the layout is a bit tight. There are a few showers at SoulCycle Bryant Park – if you have an 8am meeting or somewhere to go, we recommend leaving before the last song or sprinting out of class to get on the shower line!

Amanda is all energy. The energy she exudes fuels the class from start to finish and it’s infectious. What’s even more impressive is that she had this much energy after teaching a class right before us! She rode about 75% of the class with us and the other 25% she was running (literally) around the room showing her riders love. She was highly engaged and gave props to the class for bringing their A game. Her class is like her: high energy. She must know her class is on the harder side because there were a few times where she mentioned modifications for newer riders. Amanda pushes you in all the right ways during class: from her choreography to her moments of inspiration, she keeps you motivated to move when you think you may be spent.

Number one takeaway: MUSIC. When class was over, we were eager to find out every song she played. Sydney’s playlist was definitely top five across the NYC instructors we’ve taken. The type of music you can expect? Electronic Dance Music (EDM) with heavy beat drops. We were fans, but if you’re not into EDM, you may want to reconsider. Sydney tied the beat drops with long/fast sprints and would scream to give that extra push. She frequently engaged riders by calling out “first row, second row, there we go back row”!! Her style was engaging and just enough, not overboard with yelling or talking. That ain’t our style.
Her workout formula? Keeping the party alive. We raged and sprinted our hearts out every single song. If you’re up for the challenge, we highly recommend trying her out. That said, if you are new you may want to take a different teacher for your first time. She is fast. She loves choreography…and her class is not chill. Enough said.

Sometimes trying a new instructor at SoulCycle can be daunting – we totally get it. However, it shouldn’t deter you, especially if that instructor happens to be Claire J. Claire’s class started out with a proper warmup and though it began a bit on the slower side, the resistance and pace varied throughout the class and she tricked us into getting a hard workout. Claire was a supportive instructor from start to finish and kept us motivated to push through when the going got tough. We will definitely be taking more of Claire’s classes!

Eddie owns the room and demands respect right from the start. He immediately pulls you into an epic dance party and quite honestly, there’s no turning back til’ the end. Eddie’s energy is unmatched: he bounces around the room and keeps the dialogue going, and there’s never a dull moment in his class. With an awesome playlist full of electronic dance beats and party mixes, you’re guaranteed to have your spirits lifted and to leave class feeling ready to conquer your day.
As for his workout, it was one of the hardest SoulCycle classes we’ve taken, and that was for one reason: song choice! We ran for our lives just about every song, always maintaining a tough resistance. Do not underestimate Eddie: he loves jumps, especially 8-second jumps, and he sprints for over a minute out of the saddle. Doesn’t sound too difficult? Well, give him a try, and let’s just say we warned you. His energy, music selection, and intense workouts make Eddie one of our favs.

Isaac is one of those instructors that you wish you could ride with (or hang out with) every day. His dancing abilities on and off the bike were out of this world. He played a lot of pop music, which made for a really fun dance party, especially at 5:45 in the morning. It was apparent that pop music gets him goin’, and it got us goin’ too. Dancing with Isaac made class breeze by: we got lost in the music and 45 minutes went by in a flash. His moves and inspirational comments combined with his passion for performing make him the perfect SoulCycle instructor. He engaged us, pulled us in, and lifted us up. He was truly an inspiration.
Isaac is fit and by the end of his class, we felt fit, too! He challenged us with steep hills and a lot of sprints. What we loved most? He nailed the soul in SoulCycle – it was everything we needed and more to get our morning started. If you haven’t tried Isaac, you are surely missing out.
