Movement, music and community have been personal passions of mine for many years. Having the opportunity to do something good for my body, motivated by kick-ass instructors, and surrounded by likeminded people have added an immeasurable value to my life. Fitness really has had a transformative affect on my life on a physical, emotional, and social level. Helping others discover a similar opportunity is what really motivated me.
I truly want to create a class and environment for all-levels. It’s important for attendees of my class to feel strong, empowered, and wanting to come back no matter of their fitness level. Because of this, I keep exercises on the simpler side but make sure people are in the best possible form while also providing many progressions and regressions. I also work to the beat of the music for just about everything, even when it’s not a cycling class.
Varies, but a timeless one is Dare You by Hardwell featuring Matthew Koma.
My first fitness class was an indoor cycling class in 2008 at Sportsclub L/A (now Equinox). Also, it was a complete fluke! I’d run into the woman who signed me up for a membership when I was walking in and she asked me to go to class with her. I nearly said no. The rest is history!
Meet the Parents, hands down! Closely followed by any Ben Stiller movie.
When I was in high school, I taught gymnastics to kids aged 5-11. I was a gymnast myself so it was pretty much a shoe-in.
Wilton, CT
Recently I’ve been on a E.L Fudge cookie kick. Also, Keystone Party Mix. Good thing it’s nearly impossible to find in Boston!
Totally depends on the situation. For a casual meal, I love Anchovies in the South End. You can find me there at least once a week. For a splurge, nothing really beats No. 9 Park.
Yogurt with nuts and berries for breakfast, huge salads for lunch or avocado toast (I know, how original). When I’m not home, anything from b.good!
I have a hard time sitting still, so I’m often out and about. A perfect Sunday typically includes a brunch or dinner at a new restaurant I’ve been wanting to try, some sort of workout, and literally just walking around. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve unexpectedly wandered to Chinatown and gotten reflexology, gone to a Chinese bakery and grabbed a cocktail at Shojo.
Athleta, lululemon and Alo are my favorite brands. You can typically find me in lululemon high wasted black Wunder Unders or High Times leggings, a Cool Racerback tank, an Energy Bra, and barre socks (even when I’m not taking barre).
Extra hair ties, hand sanitizer. And obviously my phone.
Do I have to pick just one? Well, they’re all food related. Truffle fries from Anchovies, donuts from Boston Common Coffee, soft pretzels from Harpoon Brewery are probably my top three. There are more…
Once again, I can’t just pick one. I’ve been a fan of Exhale for barre and Flywheel for cycling for many years. I also love Barry’s Bootcamp (double floor, always) and recently been super into btone.
Happy and healthy. That’s all I really care about. I don’t like to think too far ahead or predict what’s going to happen personally or professionally. I prefer to be surprised or not disappointed by expectation.
An embarrassing amount.
Houndstooth things. I know, weird. But I am obsessed with houndstooth. I have houndstooth cups, earmuffs, pillows, boots, multiple sweaters, purses… you get the idea.
Coffee. Iced French Vanilla with Skim Milk and Sugar from Dunkins. Every day. With a Sprinkle Munchkin on the side. I am terrible at drinking water!
Anguilla is favorite place in the world. Beautiful beaches, very quiet, incredible food (and rum punch!) and great local music. It’s a perfect balance of relaxation, eating, drinking and culture.
Ellie Goulding’s “I Need Your Love”. Yup, that’s my alarm! In all seriousness, I am a morning person and love being up before everyone else, I don’t often teach super early, so a reservation at some sort of class is where I head in the AM.
Jenna Wolfe! Is she a celebrity? I’d say so. Random, but I was a huge fan of hers on the Today Show. I think she’s hilarious, passionate about fitness, and experiments with all sorts of technology and social media to interact with her fans. I think we have a lot in common and would have fun!
