If you love candy as much as we do, then you are probably looking for a workout that can help you burn off the unquantifiable amount of calories consumed this summer season.

Thanks to Kim on the UWS, we felt like we earned ALMOST all of the sour patch kids we had consumed. The class we took with her was one of the most leg-heavy classes we have taken at SLT. We are used to a more core-centric workout at SLT, but leg day with Kim was much needed.

RUNDOWN

WORKOUT

Each routine at SLT is different, but generally starts with a warmup to get the blood flowing and then moves into leg, oblique and core series with a bit of arms and cardio sprinkled in throughout the 50 minutes. Whether the move be a plank, pike, push up, squat, teaser, mermaid, scrambled egg, bear (to name a select few of SLT’s gazillion moves), you can expect to be in it for roughly 45-90 seconds. Luckily, the name of the game at SLT is fast transitions and before you know it, you’ll be on to the next move.

INSTRUCTOR

Kim expects you to show up ready to work and to dig deep. The girl is not messing around. She pays close attention to detail and is not afraid to adjust you to make sure you are getting the most out of the workout. The routine was well choreographed and went well with her music.

SPACE

It can be tough to secure a spot in an SLT class, but if you miss the 11AM sign up slot on Tuesdays, the UWS location is probably your best bet to schedule a class. Located up on 88th and Columbus, it is definitely the least crowded studio. The studio itself is similar to the Soho location. It is one big room filled with Megaformers, a front desk, two bathrooms (no showers) and cubbies to stash your stuff.
